What guides us

Our Distinctives

At Abounding Fellowship we are committed to a high view of God and a high view of Scripture — the two convictions that set the foundation for everything we believe and practice. Honoring God in His fullness is our highest calling, and we come to know Him rightly only through His unchanging Word.

01

Salvation Is by Grace

We believe salvation is God’s gracious work from beginning to end. The Holy Spirit draws people to Christ, the gospel is sincerely offered to every person, and Jesus Christ gave Himself for the world. Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

We gladly call every person to repent, believe the gospel, and rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

How This Shapes Our Preaching

Because Scripture is our final authority, we preach through whole books of the Bible and give careful attention to every passage. We explain each text in its context and allow God’s Word to set the agenda.

What We Hold Together

Scripture teaches both God’s sovereignty in salvation and every person’s responsibility to respond to the gospel in repentance and faith. We receive both truths with humility and trust the wisdom of God where mystery remains.

Our Statement of Faith sets out all twenty-three articles, including what we hold about salvation and the security of the believer.

These convictions are best learned in the life of the church, with Bibles open and room for honest questions. Come this Sunday and learn with us.

A High View of God

Our understanding of God shapes every part of our life together as a church. We believe God is infinite in His being, perfect in all His attributes, and sovereign over every corner of creation. This conviction places God at the center of our worship, teaching, and ministry. Our gatherings exalt the One who made us and redeemed us. A high view of God means we approach Him with awe and reverence, seeking to glorify Him, depend on Him, and submit every plan, desire, and dream to His will.

This perspective transforms our worship and realigns our priorities. We exist for God’s good pleasure and joyfully receive His character, commands, and purposes as the pattern for our lives. His nature and His Word guide our preaching, singing, praying, and serving.

God’s attributes lift our hearts and direct our worship. Each divine perfection draws us to honor the One who is infinitely worthy of praise.

The Sovereign Creator — The Foundation of All Things

God is the origin of everything that exists. Nothing precedes Him, nothing surprises Him, and nothing can thwart His purposes. As the Sovereign Creator, He upholds the universe by His power and remains present and active in His creation. When we worship Him, we declare our dependence and confess that He is the source and purpose of our lives.

The Holy One — Inspiring Awe and Reverence

God’s holiness is the brilliance of all His perfections. He is separate from all sin and imperfection, infinitely pure and utterly transcendent. Recognizing His holiness fills us with awe and leads us to approach Him with reverence. Our gatherings, prayers, and songs seek to express sincere, heartfelt worship. In His presence, we see our need and His gracious willingness to draw near and sanctify us through Christ.

The Eternal King — Reigning Over All

God’s reign extends over every time and place. He is the King who was, who is, and who is to come. His eternal sovereignty gives us stability through cultural shifts, political changes, and personal trials. Our worship remains rooted in His unchanging kingdom as we lift our eyes to the One who rules with perfect justice and righteousness.

The All-Knowing Lord — Illuminating Our Understanding

God’s knowledge is limitless. He sees the end from the beginning, knowing every heart, every hidden thought, and every possible outcome. His infinite wisdom humbles and comforts us because He chooses to reveal Himself through His Word and by His Spirit. We trust His guidance, seek His counsel, and welcome His truth as the light for our decisions.

The All-Powerful Ruler — Providing Strength and Victory

God’s strength is without rival, and He never grows weary. His immeasurable power reminds us that He can accomplish what is humanly impossible. The worship we offer and the ministry we carry out depend on His strength and bear fruit through His power. Whatever obstacles stand before us, we rest confidently in the One who is able to overcome them.

The All-Loving Father — Inviting True Worship and Adoration

God’s greatness makes His nearness and love all the more astonishing. The Almighty Creator, the Holy One, the Eternal King, the All-Knowing and All-Powerful Ruler, is also our gracious Father who cares for His children. His love is sacrificial, steadfast, and life-giving. We answer His love with wholehearted worship, and we serve Him with gratitude and delight because He first loved us.

In these attributes, we catch a glimpse of the One we worship—sovereign, holy, eternal, all-knowing, all-powerful, and boundlessly loving. A high view of God anchors our church in worship and joyful obedience. We gather to praise the God who deserves all honor and devotion. His name is lifted high, His pleasure shapes our desires, and His glory drives our worship, preaching, praying, and serving.

A High View of Scripture

The Bible itself speaks of its completeness and sufficiency, nowhere more clearly than in Psalm 19. In just a few lines, King David offers six descriptions of God’s Word, each with a unique promise that invites us into deeper confidence and joy in the Scriptures.

The Perfect Law — Restoring the Soul

The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul. Here, “perfect” speaks of wholeness—Scripture is complete and needs nothing added to it. It reaches into the depths of our being, bringing life where we may feel broken or exhausted. God’s Word restores us, renewing our spirits as we come to understand His truth and His love.

The Sure Testimony — Imparting Wisdom

The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. It’s reliable, unwavering, and never fails. For those seeking clarity and wisdom, God’s Word is a steady guide, transforming even the untrained mind into one skilled in discernment and understanding.

The Right Precepts — Rejoicing the Heart

The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. Scripture isn’t just about rules; it’s a path laid out with purpose and joy. Those who follow it discover joy that endures beyond the ups and downs of life, rooted in the steady confidence that God’s way is the best way.

The Pure Commandment — Enlightening the Eyes

The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. Clear and straightforward, God’s Word shines light into our lives, helping us see what is true and eternal. It cuts through confusion, illuminating our steps and guiding us toward what is best.

The Clean Fear — Enduring Forever

The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever. Here, “fear” speaks to the reverence Scripture commands. It stands the test of time, unchanging, and free of any impurity or corruption. In a world of shifting values, God’s Word is our enduring foundation.

The True Judgments — Altogether Righteous

The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether. God’s Word is the ultimate standard, a pure source of truth and righteousness. It shapes our lives, aligning us with the values that matter most and providing the foundation for a life that honors God.

Come see it for yourself.
